Default Royal Mail Packet Post, check what you are being charged

    Hi All

If you use Royal Mail Packet Post can you please check what prices you are being charged.

I am being charged the new rates which should come into effect from the 30th April!!

I am waiting for a call back from Royal Mail at the moment but I would check your rate.

I was charged the new rates yesterday but did not realise it until today.

    Cheers

Only stamps and franking are at the old rates since yesterday. There is a new code BPL which will charge the old rates until 30th but these are the STL rates not packepost.

We are being charged £2.63 for 1st class packet and £1.96 2nd class packet, I believe that businesses had the increase yesterday and the price increase at the end of the month is applicable only to the general public

    Hi All

It would appear that I have misread the information and Royal Mail are applying the new rates for Business Account customers from the 2nd of April.

I will now have to look at new P&P rates sooner than I thought.

Not sure how our customers will take it when they think the price increase comes into effect on the 30th April, they will think we are trying to take advantage.

    Cheers

I have just had a look at the new prices for franked postage starting at the end of the month. Currently most of my goods go out at the up to 250g first class packet rate of £1.69 and some go out at the £1.90 up to 500g. It looks like RM is getting rid of these bands at the end of the month and all packet post up to 750g will be charged at £2.36. So that represents a 40% increase on the 250g and a 24% increase on the 500g rate. I don't charge for postage but no way I can absorb that

Might be time to consider an alternative.

    We use Despatch Bay.

Sign up to Despatch Bay using the code "1GF08" and you'll get £11.75 free credit

They have great customer service. I rarely need to talk to them, but when I do they really help.
