Default Additional Info requested by PayPal

    Hi

We have been requested to supply Paypal with more information regarding the type of business we are, which i dont have a problem giving them, however, and perhaps i am being picky here, it is asking for the names of the directors of the business and our company number. We are not a limited co. so do not have directors or a company number. It will not allow me to proceed until i fill these in. Has any one else had this problem?

It asks for a legal signature so they imply this is a legal document and ask if the info is correct but their question is flawed and the answer has to be incorrect. We are a partnership and as such do not require a company number and do not have directors.

I have emailed paypal twice and have yet to have a reply. The information is needed for march and they are saying without it we may not be able to withdraw our money

We changed to a partnership last year. So I left it as a sole trader as there was no choice! Think it is because it is an American company and partnerships are not recognised! Anyway we are changing to Ltd now.

Yes, I had this a while ago and had to phone them as the legal entity for a partnership doesn't exist with paypal. They said that it was because their system applies to europe and so isn't suitable for UK legal entities. They switched me back to sole trader and so it all seems to work ok now on that basis.

Having exactly the same problem. I rang and they said I need some proof of the partnership, though the person I spoke to didn't sound as though they knew what they were talking about. I sent them a copy of the partnership registration with the Inland Revenue with our UTR, but system still asking for a 'business registration number'.

Can I change it back to sole trader myself, won't it look odd?

The man i spoke to said he would over ride the company number so it would not need to entered, but i would need to supply additional info. I tried to upload this and the site crashed and now it is asking me to start all over again.

The only saving grace is the call centre is in ireland so they understood almost everything i said.

Surely if this is an EU requirement Paypal should have thought of partnerships and allowed for this in their form.

Hi Sally - paypal themselves changed it back to sole trader for me - said that was the only way for it to work for a partnership here in the UK - had quite a chat with them and they just basically said they have one system - one size fits all - but it doesn't quite fit us here in the UK!

If you have half a real business, never accept PayPal. They are biased to the buyers but they easily accept fraudulent cards. Yep, I can prove that!

We have 2 cases that are referred to the fraud squad. Problem is, they may eventually be caught but I doubt it. Even if they do, we have lost our goods and PayPal have debited our account.

We got ripped off for over £400 in 2010, even though we were fully documented, never at fault. This is why we went to a real merchant and never had a problem since.

There are shed loads of anti PayPal sites, here's just one. http://www.paypalsucks.com/index.shtml

Heard back from PayPal today saying documentation was sufficient, my receiving limits has been removed, and still a partnership! Whoever reviewed my account obviously thought the Inland Revenue Partnership notification was sufficient but whether this is a consistent decision, who knows

I only do PayPal invoices as had been asked for them and I charge an extra 3%!
