Hi Guys,
Just come across another spelling mistake duplicated across many products in our shop, I'd like to say it was one of my guys but... I am human therefore it could have been me,
Because we have no need for exporting to CSV (transport orders to sage) we are not 100% clued up on the importing and exporting to shop feature,

whilst in principle spell checking should be integral in the edit fields, grammatical errors can still occur and because correct spelling is key to SEO...I was wondering...

If EKM came up with a spell checking service where they exported your entire products and maybe even your WebPages and ran them through a spell check, then imported them back into the shop...would you pay and how much do you think would be reasonable cost?

also consider when a spellchecker highlights a mistake it may actually be alright so the evolution is not a straight forward click... click... click

I have voted Yes...

Hi there,

At the moment on my site I offer Paypal and Google Checkout as payment options and feel that I really need to offer another option for credit/debit cards.

I've had a look around and have narrowed it down to Paypal Pro and Sagepay but have hit a brick wall with chosing between the two as I keep hearing problems about them both!!!

My thoughts are that as I don't have a merchant account Sagepay will charge me £20 a month for that which is the same as Paypals monthly fees. However Paypals fee per transaction are slightly higher BUT as I already have a history with paypal it may be easier (and quicker) to integrate......

As you can see all this is going around in circles and I'm getting nowhere!:confused:

So can anyone offer any advice or thoughts on either as I don't seem to be getting far with this!!!

Many thanks
Vicky

I'm just wondering how many of you don't bother sending products out using recorded or some sort of trackable service. If you don't how often do you receive charge backs for non receipt or customers complaining they didn't receive an order?

I use recorded delivery at the moment for nearly everthing apart from greeting cards and small products. It's more for peace of mind that someone is just trying it on to get a free product. I also get a number of customers who say they didn't receive their order and swear their postie would have left a ticket, when in fact when I check it's sitting at the sorting office.

1 t-shirt will fit through a letter box fine but 2 generally won't fit so if a customer isn't in there's no telling if a postie will be bothered to leave a card. I'm just worried about all the extra paperwork of having to deal with lost parcels. Or am I just being overly worried and there's not a big problem with lost post?

How long does it take to get RBS WorldPay to install a gateway?

From the time we received the request for a direct debit on the 21st July it has been a hassle to get what I signed up for or to make any progress.

Now 4 weeks later about 8 phone call and around 20 emails is it working on our second website -NO!

I am slowly loosing the will to live.

EKM integration was really easy and in the test mode, the connections and emails were correct and payment went through the first (and every other time I have tried). Streamline was also really easy and efficient

After waiting 2 days for them to test - I had to phone to find it still hadn't even been looked at

A 2 minute test then takes place - not a visit to the website.:confused:

Then I get an email saying I am in Live mode!! and there is no connection

Yes I have emailed them back with screen shots and will be on the phone again tomorrow

At this rate to get 2 websites integrated, 3D secured, and a virtual payment gateway it will be 2011!! :mad:

Hi Guys and Gals.

Google have recently updated their tracking code which is now placed into the <head> section of your code. This apparently is quicker and more reliable according to google.

So here is an update of the code and the e-commerce tracking code.
NOTE: If you are still using the older ga.js code. Don't worry, this will continue to work just fine.

So firstly, as with the older code you need to ensure you have ecommerce tracking enabled in your analytics account.

To Enable E-commerce in GA. Login to GA.
In the top left click on Analytics Settings
Click on Edit on the right hand side of your profile
In the first section click on Edit in the top right hand corner of the section box
Enable E-Commerce Tracking
DONE

Now to add the code for normal tracking.

1.This needs to be implemented in your Main Template (THE BIG ONE, not the main page)

This snippet of code must be placed directly above the </head>. Also remember to replace the #### with your unique GA number.

Also if you have been using the older method, please ensure you remove the old Ga code (Just below <body> and just above </body>)

_gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-#######-#']);
_gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

2. Next we need to install the E-Commerce Tracking

a. Login to your account.
b. click on settings
c. click on customise checkout fields
d. You will see all of the pages that are part of the checkout process. The last page on the right will be the order confirmation page. Click on this. (For one page checkout users this is the bottom page on the diagram)
e. Now you will see a list of all of the payment options you have (ie. Google, Paypal, SagePay etc.

NB*** This next step needs to be done on each of these payment methods.

Click on a Payment method and you will see a text box where you can enter the code. If you are using IE then you will see a WYSIWYG editor, make sure you click on the "show HTML" button.

In this box you will see a bit of code. Do not overwrite this as this is what the customer sees when the order is confirmed.

You need to paste the following code above any existing code. If you are an IE user then paste the code below any existing code as there seems to be a problem with saving the information when you paste it above. Remember to replace the ### with your unique code

Quote:

  var _gaq = _gaq || [];
_gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-#######-#']);
_gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);
_gaq.push(['_addTrans',
'[ekm:order_number]',                // order ID - required
'[ekm:subtotal_number_only]',        // total - required
'[ekm:totaltax_number_only]',        // tax
'[ekm:totaldelivery_number_only]',   // shipping
''                                   // country
]);

// add item might be called for every item in the shopping cart
// where your ecommerce engine loops through each item in the cart and
// prints out _addItem for each
_gaq.push(['_addItem',
'',           // order ID - required
'',           // SKU/code - required
'',           // product name
'',           // category or variation
'',           // unit price - required
''            // quantity - required
]);
_gaq.push(['_trackTrans']); //submits transaction to the Analytics servers
(function() {
var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
})();

</script>

f. Click Update

Repeat the step above for each payment method.
I have tested this, this afternoon and it is working fine on my site.

REMEMBER TO ENABLE E-COMMERCE TRACKING IN YOUR GA SETTINGS

Something I have been thinking about sometime now is the use of "I" vs "We" on my website and how this affects how customers perceive a website.

I am not a big business in fact there is just me. So far I have tended to use I rather than We on my site as I think that it portrays a personal touch rather than being a remote business.

In my line of work every single piece has to be individually selected and evaluated and it is very rare for me to have more than one of any item. I have thought that the personal touch helps put over my expertise in this area.

Clearly on a larger site selling lots of mass produced stuff a We would be appropriate. But what do others selling one offs do? Craft items, vintage, antique, personalised stuff?

Thoughts and opinions sought please.

Hi,

Just looking for some advice really.

I have been asked to supply a major High Street chain with a product and potentially they want to order 1000's of units. We have discussed prices etc and I have supplied them with samples and they have just placed a trial order which is great.

What I'm wondering is if they do place an order for £££'s can I ask for payment up front?
I ask this as I am a middle man so to speak and have to buy my stock from a supplier.

If anyone can shed any light on doing B2b it would be great as i am completly new to this side of things and am very cautious when dealing with these kind of figures as I could seriously come a cropper if things go belly up!:eek:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Hi,
I usually post my orders by Royal Mail as they are quite light items, however I have been asked to source some items for another company which I have now done and due to the quantity and weight will need to be sent by courier.

Just wondered if anyone could anyone recommend a good courier service which are quite reasonable in price for a one off delivery?

Thanks

Is anyone having problems with Paypal at the moment ? I've had about 10 failed Paypal orders over the last couple of days. I've emailed all of those customers that didn't manage to pay and have only heard back from a couple of them who said that they were having problems with their own paypal accounts due to their cards being out of date etc, but haven't heard from any of the others :(

Last week I had a customer call me to say that she wanted to pay for her order over the phone as everytime she clicked on one of my payment methods, it was throwing up a message saying that I was an unsecure site.

I've tried a couple of test orders myself and it all seems to be fine - could someone please try and put a test order through for me and let me know if they have any problems ?

Thanks :)
